Diagnosis and Management of Nerve Injuries Caused by Pediatric Upper Extremity Fractures

Although nerve injuries occur commonly with pediatric upper extremity fractures, there is very little existing literature to guide management of those that do not recover during routine fracture healing and follow-up, even less guidance available regarding the choice diagnostic tests such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) sequences, electromyography (EMG), conduction velocities, (NCV), ultrasound (US), or other modalities. In addition, patterns injury timing recovery differ amongst different fractures.  This review article describes specific details humeral shaft, supracondylar, Monteggia fracture-dislocations,  and forearm fractures well various in an attempt synthesize literature, which most adult population, extensive clinical experience authors, all whom specialize hand extremity.&nbsp
